The building on Milton Street, Palfrey has been given a new lease of life, thanks to Bilal Academy. This once, run down, Working Men’s Club, has been partially renovated to a high standard and been given a facelift, which gives a smart appearance to the neighbourhood. However, Bilal Academy is so much more than a building, it is a community hub that hosts not only Islamic education, but also a community coffee afternoon, health and wellbeing advice, fitness classes, mental health and counselling services.

Bilal Academy, also plan to expand their community projects in future. it has been my pleasure to have Bilal Academy’s coffee afternoon join the Places of Welcome network, providing a safe space in the local community where people can connect, belong and participate, all while enjoying good company and free refreshments, and locals are warmly invited into this space to share food and friendship. Congratulations on your nomination Bilal Academy!

Bilal Academy is a brilliant organisation within Walsall founded by local ulama and holds a special place int he community.

Alongside providing evening classes for children, BA provides many other educational services like Alimah classes for girls, Hifz classes for boys and girls, as well as adult classes for women and others. In a short span of time, it grew massively and now has over 200 students.

It’s amazing to see so many children who couldn’t find madrasah space now able to have a good Islamic upbringing and nurturing in the classroom.

However BA is also a bastion of the local area for all its incentives, which unite the community, in which it goes unmatched such as charity sales, fitness classes, coffee afternoons and mental health services. In this way I have experienced that Bilal Academy has an open door and friendly smile for anyone who wishes to come.

May Allah accept Bilal Academy. Ameen
